Find Corydon Court Records

Corydon court records live with the Harrison County courts, not a town court of its own. Cases filed in Corydon land in either Harrison Superior Court or Harrison Circuit Court, and the Harrison County Clerk keeps the official file. The route you pick depends on the case. Traffic and criminal matters point one way; civil and family point another. It also matters whether a docket view online will do, or whether you need a certified copy from the clerk.

Corydon Population and Record Geography

The official 2020 Census place table supports Corydon's population.

A place name on a table only tells you where. The court code tells you which Harrison court holds the Corydon file. So narrow any docket search by court and date.

Corydon Appeals Leave the Trial Docket

Federal appeals travel a different track. The Seventh Circuit site shows where those dockets end up.

This route does not replace MyCase. State case records stay with the Harrison courts and the clerk, while federal dockets run on federal systems.

Corydon Court Docket Searches

Start with Indiana MyCase. Case mode takes a cause number, a citation number, or a cross-reference number. Party mode begins with a last name or business name, then you can narrow by first name, court, case type, status, and filing dates. Set the court filter, since Corydon records sit in two different Harrison courts.

  1. Choose Search by Case when a cause or citation number is available.
  2. Select Harrison Superior Court, 31D01, for traffic, criminal, small-claim, or eviction matters.
  3. Select Harrison Circuit Court, 31C01, for most civil, family, probate, or juvenile matters.
  4. Open the result and read the chronological case summary.
  5. Confirm an urgent date or request an official document from the court or clerk.

Not sure which court holds the case? Search both. Local rules let a judge accept a filing in the other court, and older cases stay where they began. MyCase caps results at 1,000, so adding a date range and court filter sharpens a Corydon name search.

Corydon Records at the County Seat

Corydon is the seat of Harrison County. The 2020 Census place table counted 3,153 residents. Both trial courts operate there, along with the county's two published clerk locations. The town anchors county records, but it still has no court of its own.

Every court record is indexed by Harrison court and cause number. The town name may mark where an incident happened or where a party lives. It is not a court selector in MyCase. That is why hunting for a city docket can fail. The case may still be fully public.

Inside the Corydon Municipal Court Question

Corydon has no municipal court. The Indiana trial-court directory, the Odyssey court list, and the Harrison caseload plan all point to Harrison Circuit Court and Harrison Superior Court. The town hosts those two courts rather than forming a third jurisdiction.

Routing fact: Do not search for a Corydon municipal docket. Use 31D01 for the likely traffic or criminal route and 31C01 for the likely civil or family route.

The old Harrison County Court carried code 31E01. Indiana now lists it as abolished. That code can still surface in archived Odyssey cases, but it takes no new filings and creates no Corydon town court today.

Corydon Case Numbers Tell the Route

A full Indiana cause number is often the quickest route to Corydon records. Harrison is county 31; C01 marks Circuit and D01 marks Superior. The later groups give the filing year and month, the case-type code, and a six-digit sequence.

31C01
Harrison Circuit Court, the normal route for civil, domestic, probate, juvenile, and protection-order records.
31D01
Harrison Superior Court, the normal route for criminal, infraction, ordinance, small-claim, and eviction records.
31E01
The abolished Harrison County Court retained only for archived Odyssey matters.

Only a citation number on the paper? Enter that value in MyCase case mode. Never guess a court code to go with it. A name search run once in each Harrison court is the safer fallback.

Finding Corydon Court Dates

A hearing may show up in the chronological case summary. The entry lists a date, time, court, and description. Indiana posts no Corydon town calendar. The clerk publishes no Harrison-specific daily calendar web page either. Treat the docket entry as your lead, then confirm with the court when timing counts.

DateThe event date in the CCS, subject to later resets.
TimeThe listed start, which may be a shared docket call.
CourtroomThe Circuit or Superior location shown or confirmed by staff.
JudgeThe judicial officer assigned to the case or event.
Setting TypeAn initial hearing, conference, motion hearing, trial, or review.

Call the Circuit Court at 812-738-2191 or the Superior Court at 812-738-8141. The general clerk line is 812-738-4289, and the Justice Center clerk can be reached at 812-738-8149. A docket entry can shift after the initial setting, since a continuance, reset, or later order may move the hearing.

Corydon Has Two Clerk Counters

Debbie Dennison, the Harrison County Clerk, runs the official records for both courts. The main counter sits at 300 North Capitol Avenue. Its phone number is 812-738-4289. A second location serves visitors at 1445 Gardner Lane NW, Room 3126. Call it at 812-738-8149. Both counters keep weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The county posts no online list of which record types belong at which counter. Call ahead with the cause number, party name, and a description of the document. The listed email works for asking how to submit a request, though the county does not name email as its formal request channel.

Corydon Traffic Ticket Lookups

Traffic and infraction cases in Corydon generally go to Superior, court 31D01. Search by citation number when it is legible. No Corydon citation portal exists, and the county no longer takes online traffic payments. Pay by phone at 812-738-8149 or in person at the Justice Center, Suite 3126. The county charges a 3 percent phone fee. Cards work by phone and at the counter. Cash, money orders, and certified checks work at the counter too. Have the full name, date of birth, cause number, and citation number handy. Paying and contesting are separate choices. Check the response deadline before you act. Corydon CCS Entries in Plain Terms

Behind every result sits the chronological case summary. That is the running event list for a Corydon case. It can show the court, the case type, the file date, and the parties. It also lists lawyers, settings, orders, disposition, and money paid or owed. Sometimes a public document is attached as a link. A missing link proves nothing about whether the filing exists.

Appearance
A lawyer or self-represented party formally entered the case.
Converted Event
Information carried into Odyssey from an earlier system.
Continuance
A scheduled event moved by request or court order, not a dismissal.
Disposition
The recorded resolution of a charge, claim, or case.
Judgment
A court decision that may be followed by enforcement or appeal activity.

The MyCase site posts its own caution: case data and money figures online can lag or fall short of the full court record. When you need something official for Harrison County, the clerk's file is what counts.

How Corydon Cases Reach the County

MyCase itself warns that online data and financial balances may be incomplete or delayed. When an official record matters, the clerk's maintained file controls.

Docket flow: Corydon incident or filing › Harrison County Superior or Circuit Court › Harrison County Clerk official record

Case type decides the door. Traffic, ordinance, criminal, small-claim, and eviction matters normally enter Superior. Civil, family, probate, juvenile, guardianship, and protection-order cases normally enter Circuit. A federal Harrison case is a different track entirely. It runs through PACER and the Southern District of Indiana's New Albany Division. The Harrison County court docket overview lays out the countywide allocation.

Corydon History Beside Current Records

Corydon was Indiana's first state capital, serving from 1816 through 1824. The first state constitution was drafted nearby. That history gives the courthouse square its civic weight. It has no bearing on where a modern CCS lives. A current record search still runs through MyCase and the responsible court. A historic courthouse reference can still help you spot the North Capitol Avenue destination. For status, though, trust the current tools. The elected clerk maintains the official file. Local lore is no substitute for the right court code. It also cannot replace the correct cause number or direct confirmation of a hearing.

Who Can See Corydon Court Records

Who gets to see a Corydon court record? Indiana's Rules on Access to Court Records control that question. Rule 4 starts from broad public access. Rule 5 then carves out excluded information, which can include juvenile, adoption, and mental-health matters, certain protection-order details, sealed records, and anything made confidential by law or order.

Access rule: A public CCS does not mean every document is online. Ask the clerk for a public copy, and use the Rule 9 process when access to an excluded record is sought.

For a transcript, go to the court reporter, not the clerk. The clerk posts no Harrison copy-fee sheet or mail-in court-record form, so ask the office directly about delivery, cost, and certification. And a missing MyCase link never means public access was denied.

Corydon Online Data and Official Files

For many needs, MyCase is enough. It can identify the court, display the CCS, or surface a setting, but the official Corydon record comes from the Harrison County Clerk. A certified copy carries clerk authentication; a plain copy does not.
